Sixth Ramadhan

Greetings,

So where did I break fast this Ramadhan? Let's check.

1st day--at the airport
2nd day--in the airplane, somewhere 33,000 ft in the sky
3rd day--at home with my flatmate
4th day--in Seoul with colleagues (note: SANGAT HAZAPPP!))
5th day--at parent's place
6th day--at a Japanese Restaurant called Sakae Sushi

So yeah, I was at Sakae Sushi yesterday with Luna. It was our first time there. None of us into Japanese food very much. After all, not everyone can eat Japanese food, betol tak? So we gave it a try since we pass by the restaurant pretty often on our way to our fav cafe there (see, we both are soooo eligible to be the faces of Pavilion KL). To our surprise, the food there was really GOOD.

So yesterday, we had these.

Fried Maki. To be frank, I had no idea what Maki is until I got the first bite. It was deep fried rice cake with seaweed. Sangat sedap (untuk standard orang puasa). Tapi mahal. RM 3.90 per 2 cakes. OK OK, aku sangat kedekut actually.

Our meal set. I had beef teriyaki and Luna had grilled 'ewwyy' eel. The beef was flavorful. Very nice. Inside the bento set, there were Japanese rice, tofu, steamed egg and soba soup.

And our dessert, ice cream in Moschi skin. Deliciously scorching!

We kinda agreed yesterday that from now on, on every visit to Pavilion, we will include a side visit to a new restaurant we never been to. And dear PV management, please put this into a serious consideration. We both been very loyal to your mall. Prolly you could appoint us to become your ambassadors, at least for the F&B department? LOL

New Yr Eve Dinner at A Viet Restaurant

Greetings and hello,

How was the weekend, everyone? I hope you had a splendid one. Well, I enjoyed mine. Unfortunately my plan to India Gate did not come true as I was busy spending the money at Sarojini Market in Delhi with another crew. There you go my plans yang nak berjmat kononnye....

For less than RM 200, I got:

• 5 pashminas (aka shawl)
• 1 leather glove
• 1 jump suit made from 100% wool
• and ready-made langsir for all tingkap at parent's place dan my room at rumah sewa.... (exactly the same pattern and quality that you can see at IKEA yang harga dia RM80-90/piece tu)
  

Murah kan?

To those yang suka shopping, let me tell you one thing, I've been to many places in the region, yes dulu I cakap Bandung and Bangkok murah kalau nak shopping kain etc.....but wait until you are to Delhi. You will go nuts , I promise. Things in Delhi esp household items and kain are filthy cheap sampai ko tanye orang kedai tu 2-3 kali betul ke harge yang dia sebut. Haha

Anyway, 2 weeks ago, a couple of friends and I had the opportunity to welcome the NY with a dinner at a Vietnamese Restaurant at KLCC. I don't really remember the name of the restaurant but it is located at Level 4 next to Chakri Palace. I suppose it is a new restaurant with the 'Business Flowers' being put outside the restaurant.

I myself tak pernah makan Vietnamese food before (name je crew ke sana sini but my tastebuds tak la sehandal orang lain...) so did my 2 friends so we decided to give a go.

Based on the menu, we thought that the price is OK la...tak mahal...

We kinda like the appetizer, local spring rolls (self-made) with 2 choices of sauce--peanuts and sweet chilli sauce.

Followed by the main course. The meal below is not mine.

So-called Viet chicken chop rice (?)

...and noodle soup?

....and this is mine, Viet fried rice.

And then we realized one thing.....aiyoo...all the food were not as good or as authentic as we expected. Those meals (except the appetizer) are available kat warung tepi2 jalan (like my nasi goreng, secara terang2an pakai Maggi punye perencah)!

I mean for what we got, rasenye tak la berbaloi dengan ape yang dibayar. Now we all rase food kat situ are overpriced.

So, the next time you are at KLCC, please drop the idea nak makan kat Viet Rest. ni. The 3 of us are foodie so we know what we are saying.

New Year Surprise

Greetings everyone,

I am back to my normal workin life. Weekend was great! Attended Nadia's wedding reception, also went to Sunway Lagoon for a splash with 2 close friends (and stayed in during NY countdown, booooo.......!)

Anyway, I got this NY wishes SMS as follow from someone whom I dated not so long ago. Of all messages I received, I kinda like this one. It sound like this:

Dear Z***
You were the most surprising great experience person I met in 2009. Happy New Year 2010. Hugs

Aiyoo.....how flirtatious? I know it was a short one but ehem....I am so flattered la somehow ;p

I got an off day today, so I headed to Pavilion all by myself for my lunch. And I had this.....

A set of Pad Thai and mango with sticky rice.

Really, the Pad Thai was soooo good lah. The succulent tiger prawns, the crunchiness of beansprouts and peanuts, sour from the lime juice, sweet from the palm sugar, spicy from the chillies, salty from the 'namla' fish sauce...senang citer complete lah everything. Well you must try it.

Pad Thai PV

Greetings people,

My apologies for the very late update. I was busy flying around the region. I got myself an off day today, before flying to Yogyakarta tomorrow morning. I will end my roster for year 2009 with my flight to Singapore on the 29th.......followed by a looong holiday till early January ;-)

And today, I managed to catch up with some old friends at Syaz's wedding reception at Kuang, and some shopping and makan2 after that with some other old friends at KLCC. I spent a fortune there, and now I am broke again. Ha ha.


Anyway, I was at Pavilion last weekend with Seth and company. We went makan2 at the food court there.

And I had a set of Thai food consisting of "pad Thai" and mango with sticky rice. It was my first time to eat pad Thai there.

OMIGOD...the pad Thai from the food court was heavenly! It was flavorful and the potion was generous too! (and cheap too, for less than RM 15 per set). Sangat sedap. I am sure I will come makan2 here again the next time I come to Pavilion.

I do recommend this pad Thai to you ;)

Gotta dash...actually I have many things to share and say. Prolly next time, heh?

Makan² at Bubba Gum

Dear Diary,

It's good to be home. I ought to have a well-deserved rest after running (flying) around. Nothing much planned for the weekend (since I am poorer by RM 7933.37 yesterday). Ha!

Anyway, it is confirmed. August roster is out and I am going for the Airbus class earlier next month. I kinda look forward for the class actually.

Hey, have you heard the Bubba Gump restaurant before?

Well, few colleagues and I got the chance to eat aka 'food-tasting' there just recently. It was attended by

Z & Z

and Sang and Me ;)

Everyone. Lavish spread on the table. Hmm..

May I recommend to you that it is rather wiser and cheaper to order the set than a la cart, as what we did.

By a la cart, ones need to spend at least RM 80 for the menu but we only paid roughly (I am old enough to remember the exact figures) RM 53 for a 5-course menu! And that is what I called a good bargain. Hahaha.....so kiasu, neh?

The course started with the garden salad.

The portion was big enough for 2! After all, this is an American chain restaurant. So, everything here is by American size/portion!

Then followed by the garlic breads. Served on newspaper printed paper. Kool!

And I ordered this one. Beef ribs. OMG, yet another huge portion. It was meant for couples I guess. Oh, now I realized my visit to the restaurant was wasted by ordering this. Should've tried the shrimps, kan?

And, the desert. Chocolate cookies and vanilla ice-cream served in the glass.

And this is my tummy after laying my a$$ off in the chair in less than an hour.

Really, it was so worthwhile (for those yang pelahap) to eat here, despite rude waitress that served us.

As soon as we settled, things then washed down with hot bev (c/t).

Actually, I myself could not finish the whole set so...

I tapau'ed!

The restaurant ambiance were excellent. They successfully created the American mood. You know, country songs, the decos and all. Seating arrangements great. Bottomless soft drinks.

Just one drawback, the crew were less attentive (wah....ayat sejak jadi crew ni). We had to ask them to refill our drinks constantly and actually, we were given the dessert first!

That was really ODD!

Nevertheless, we had a great time there still.

Makan² at Pavilion

Dear Diary,

Good day. It's a lovely Thursday afternoon. Good weather outside. And I will be flying off to Kota Bharu this evening. It will be my first lay over in the city so, Renaissance KB.....here I come! ;)

I will meet a good ol' friend of mine there tonight, Naz, whom I was talking about in previous entry. He will depart for Melbourne next week. The timing is just right, heh?
(tapi bukankah Melbie banyak kes H1N1 and gov dah forbid local travellers from going to the city?)

Anyway, speaking of friend, I have a not-s0-nice story to tell lah about this so-called friend. Will tell more next time. Come to think of it, memang benci.

But heck, let's talk about makan² this time, OK?

Yes, I makan²ed at Food Republic, Pavilion this time.

Just how much I hate to admit this, but Pavilion has the nicest food court that one can ever see in KL. It is spacey, lots of varieties and the foods are so affordable (and big portion too!).

Just look at the photo below. A set of Thai Laksa with Sweet Mango and Sticky Rice came at RM 11.90 only. Ha!

I love the dessert, but the Laksa seemed like missing something. Less 'Umph' which I still don't know what.

Later that day, I makan²ed at J.Co Donut. I was so craving for the donuts, and just I takde kaki to tag along. To eat donut alone mana lah fun, so nasib baik ada makhluk Tuhan ni. Thanks babe temankan :)

And surprisingly this time, there was no one q'ing for their famous donuts. Perhaps it was during office hours?

And yeah, I loved the Baby Donuts very much!

Ouh....deliciously scorching.

For One More Day

Dear Diary,

Been ages, heh?

Off for few days for my Proficiency Test, you know....after a certain period of time, I need to return to MAS Flying Academy for the competency-like exam, just to see how much we have learned from the first few months of flying as a crew member.
Ha, I am soooo glad that I passed the exam. Jangan ingat senang nak jadi steward.

Rumors confirmed, my batch mates and I will be called up for the airbus class soooon. Some people like it, some people don't. But as for me, I have this mixed feelings of takut and suka.

Work is work. Kalau tak buat, camane nak tau kan? Not try, not know. Haha

Anyway, I got the chance to meet up with and old buddy, Naz last week at KLCC.
I felt like aaaaaaayyyyyyy~ges since I last met him before he left for Sydney last year to pursue his studies in Masters degree. Now, he is back in Malaysia for few months before leaving the country again for Melbourne this July for his PhD.

It was a very casual meeting. We both had a long luncheon session at The Chilis, KLCC followed by a movie and coffee and window shopping yada yada till late evening! Hah!

He is a good buddy of mine during our time in uni. A good listener and a very visionary gentleman, he is. this entry Tapi bukan la nak citer pasal Naz, but more of what we had that day. Ha ha.

Long story short, we had these:

Ha.....life feels so good when I go makan², with the right company. And as for me, Naz is a very gooooood company. How I wish I could that again for one more day.

The Story of Nasi Lemak

One of the leading steward I worked with said that I am a perfectionist, I seek perfection in all things in life. I am not sure if the arguement is right since I just dont think I am, and never will be one.

Please look at the 2 photos below. And do tell me which nasi lemak makes u salivate more? Ha!

** nasi lemak = rice cooked in coconut milk, served with fried peanuts and anchovies, sambal, hard-boiled egg, slices of cucumber ( by all means this is the simple nasi lemak).

Both came at the same price. The very first one was the so-called the best nasi lemak in Singapore, priced at SGD 4.50.

Location: Changi, cant remember the exact location, but close to Changi Prison.

And the second nasi lemak is the standard airport nasi lemak, priced at MYR 9.00

Location: Departure Hall, Level 3, Main Satellite Building, KLIA

So tell me! I know this may sound pointless but I need to know.

Nina's 22nd Bday at Tamarind Springs

Dear Diary,

I am back again! I was all around town this afternoon, with a flatmate, Z. Did some window shopping, and later a power lunch at Pavilion followed by a sweet bite at J.Co Donut. Ugh....I missed donuts very much. Ha!

Just finished our dinner with another 2 colleagues. And I am now tapping the entry from a CC, near to my place, awaiting my girlpal to pick me up for some drinks in town, again.

Anyway, I made this entry special for my colleague--Nina, who celebrated her 22nd Bday recently. Happy Belated Bday, pal.

It was a small dinner party, held at The Tamarind Springs, at Taman TAR. It was a very impromptu plan, Nina at first decided to go to Bora Ombak, where then I remembered it was her Bday, so I suggested this restaurant. It was my first time there, so the rest of the (crew) bunch.

For those who plan to eat there, I suggest you to make a reservation beforehand. Dress code applies--no slippers and no shorts.

Ooooo.....corny!

It was a great night. We did enjoy our meal, the portion was OK, well people come to fine dining bukan nak melantak kan, kalo nak melantak gi kedai tepi jalan tu, the food price was reasonable, the ambiance was verrrry romantic..... and we really liked the presentation of the foods.

Oh yeah, this is an Indochine restaurant. They serve Indochinese food (Khmer, Vietnamese and Thai) and there were lots of Buddha statue around the restaurant.

You may expect Halal food here (minus the liquor) since they also do the break fast dining during Ramadhan.

And guess what, not to forget the awards the restaurant have been receiving all this while.
