A Saturday Noon at Vic Peak

Greetings from the City of Asia, HK.

I am now at Starbucks located on top of Victoria Peak sipping the Gingerbread Latte which I found to be very very nice. I love it! (a bit pricey though for a medium size at HKD 40 +/- MYR 20).

I had to change almost ALL plans for today.

I got lost at Hong Kong MRT Station and wasted an hour there looking for directions to Central MRT Station. The Hongkees keep giving me wrong directions. The 'good' thing is, another half an hour wasted at Admiralty MRT Station seeking directions to Kennedy Road. And the story goes on and on and on....

Seriously, do not ever trust Hongkees when it comes to directions. I rather ask "gweilo" aka the mat salleh who live in HK for that. Oh yeah......HK mmg je international city.

Never that I know that I can be so hopeless in HK, though I 'stayed' here once before.

Going down to Mid Levels now, and later going to Ben & Jerry ice cream shop at Lan Kwai Fong to meet a friend who lives here.

Hopefully no more getting lost on my way there. And please wait for my HK photos here ;)

U know u love me, xoxo

Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2009 Pt. 2

Dear Diary,

I am back to KL. I just arrived here this evening.

I feel sooooo malas to go to work tomorrow, will be going to Taipei in Taiwan to be precise. And it will be my first time to the city.

I am actually still in Raya mood. All my family members are still at kampung, I am sure they are all gelak'ing, borak'ing and makan'ing at this time, while I am here dead bored with no one else at home. Nasib baik ade internet.

My Hari Raya was so mediocre. Everythingwas sooooo kureng lah. Ma fell ill, with less people yang balik kampung (maybe due to H1N1), and the luxury of returning to KL with family was taken away when I had to take a coach to KL. Mind you it was not a direct kampung-KL journey. Dengan stomachache lagi, etc etc.

And upon arrival into KL, I was soo surprised to see soooooo many Indons in KL!

I felt like I was not in my own country anymore! There was a slight insecure feeling to walk around town this evening, when so many nasty, smelly and fugly Indons staring at me. Eugh......How I wished yang stare to Indon² sinetron, or fashionistas/socialites yang selalu masuk Tatler. haha

And KL amatlah kotor ye....

And yet, people in Indon still ade intention nak perang dengan Malaysia? Aiyo.....tak sedar ke berjuta² Indon yang carik rezeki kat sini..... Ptui!

Come to think of it, very menyampah dengan propaganda murahan negara seberang ni!

I better go now. I am so restless.

Will update more.

U know u love me, xoxo

ps: And macam tahun² lepas, Hari Raya disajikan dengan banyak cerita² klise. Anak derhaka, anak terlambat balik, keluarga dah mati pastu dah tanam baru nak sampai and the like. Pelakon sape lagi kalo bukan Rosyam Nor dgn Fauziah Nawi. Tolong lah! Hari Raya orang nak bergembira.....bukan nak meraung!

Very klise, very very klise. Seolah² dah takde idea orang Melayu ni!

My First Trip To Delhi

Dear Diary,

It's been long since I wanted to update the blog with the photos of my trip to India held recently.

How is everyone doing? I am doin' fabulous. I have just returned home from some shopping at my favorite mall in town, no other than KLCC :)

Oh yeah, I did some damage to the wallet today, and now I am broke. So, people, please feed me until end of next month, since I have no money left to buy food and all.... Ha!

Anyway, the air is filled with the smell of Raya festivities. I myself cannot wait for Hari Raya this Sunday. It will be the first Raya that I will give out 'duit Raya' to kids. Hmmm.....pokai lagi. It is truly the month of bankruptcy for me :p

Back to Delhi trip.

My trip was a short one, merely 3 days only but I had so much fun in Delhi, especially the shopping. Boi, really, I was in Bandung, I was in Bangkok, I was in almost every nook in the region but nowhere can compete Delhi in terms of shopping, in my humble opinion.

Aiyo...very the cheap la. You know, India is one of the largest textile manufacturer in the world, well..I hope you get my point.

On my first night in Delhi, few colleagues and I went to the newly opened Hard Rock Cafe, located nearby to the hotel we stay. I myself am not a big fan of HRC, at least for now. I was there just for the sake of buying some souvenirs, bukan sebab so-called nak menikmati hiburan di Delhi.

Aiyo, yang pergi clubbing kat Delhi semua jenis² pelakon Hindustan, really. Very good looking lah they all. Jauh beza dengan every-day-Indian people on the street.

The socio-economy in India
sangatlah jauh.....we are lucky to be living in Malaysia. Tak lah ikot kasta, dan yang kaya kat sini tu taklah jauh sangat dengan yang sederhana, tak macam di India. Yang kaya rumah macam Istana Negara kat KL, yang susah tu duduk dalam khemah kanvas A-frame je.

Later that night, we went for a supper at nearby McD. Look at the drinks holder below.

Actually, it is not as durable as the one in KL yang pakai plastic bag je. Yelah...air tu sejuk dengan ais, holder tu pulak made from paper, so, bile basah....senang la rabak.

And a scene at McD in India.

House fly, peeps!

And my catch from HRC.

And the newspaper from Delhi, put at the door knob.
I like the linen bag for the newspapers, tapi takde pulak gambar.

Meet my uncle?

On the next day, we continued the tour around Delhi town with the local trishaw called 'tuk²' (similar to those in Bangkok and Jakarta). One thing for sure, do bargain before taking a ride.

A tuk² generally can carry up to 5 passengers. 3 behind, and 2 in front. One at each side of the driver. Crazy neh? Believe it!

Our first pit stop was at Sarojini Market. Famous for its household items.

I LOVE that brick-and-mud wall.

Work hard, play harder and bargain 'hardest'! That's how I do things in life.

When you have so many shops to visit in so little time, this is how will it looks like. Try baju tengah jalan je OK.

Guess what, bende² lapik meja macam ni kat ASEANA dengan Ombak mahal nak mampos, kat sini they sell it for less than RM12 per set. Yes, per set. Too bad, rumah bujangku tiada dining table lagi.

And not to forget, a real scene just like those in Slumdog Millionaire.

And what I like most.

Buying postcards from places I visit.

And below are some of my other catch from Delhi.

The local version of Men's Health magazine. I am an avid reader of this magazine for ages (though I dont practice the exercise anymore due to lack of time)

Bagful of postcards. Haha!

And a fridge magnet from Taj Mahal.

I do have like tonnes of photos taken from Delhi, will try to upload more next time.

In the meantime, take care, be good and early Happy Hari Raya.

u know u love me, xoxo

Mamutik & Manukan Island Trip

Greetings,

I am simply exhausted now. Last night was spent in Sibu and tomorrow I am off to Bali for work. This would be my very first duty flight to the island.

Speaking of island, I was lucky enough to get a chance to visit Mamutik and Manukan island, both in Sabah.

They are both located just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.

A visit to the city is not complete without going to these islands. Ha!
From KK town, proceed to Jesselton Jetty, that takes roughly 10 mins by taxi. I was fortunate enough that the hotel I stayed at located nearby to the jetty. So, I walked there ;)

And the boat fare vary to the number of the island we want to visit. Like my case, I visited 2 islands so the fare was RM 23 per pax, which means it will be slightly cheaper if I visit one.

Ah....don't forget the tax too. I used my student card, so I paid half.

I went to the island with someone.

And she is no other than my batchmate at MAS Flying Academy, Sang Nina.

The first island we visited was the Manukan island.

The water was so clear. I can even see Nemo half way to the island.

And I must remind you, all visitors need to pay another tax/fee upon arrival(?).
Errr.....how do I explain this now. The whole expenses was 'cheap' but 'not cheap'.

We then looked for a shady place as soon as we got our feet on the island. Nina did not join me for a splash though since she left her bikini back in KL (pandai aku cover)

Aiyoo.....I made a mistake, I should have brought my snorkeling gear. I rented the set and wasted RM 20 for it.

Later, we moved to Mamutik island. I like Mamutik to Manukan since the beach is longer and less dead coral near to the shore.

Muke keriangan

OK OK, it was so hot and my face was soooo burnt.
Being a crew, I need to take care of my asset
la kan, that is my skin. Thanks to Biotherm.

Later, we discovered this.

And what a visit to the beach without having a Cornetto. Comel tak? Ha ha

We returned to the mainland after another couple of hours on the beach.

Before walking back to the hotel, I decided to make a detour to the souvenir shops at the Jetty for the postcards ;)

And later stopped by at the hotel bar for a drink before I snoozed off to la la land.

U know u love me, xoxo

ps: Very the mengan......zzzZZZZZZZZ....

Borneo Pt. 4

Dear Diary,

Finally...the very final part of my first work trip report around Borneo Island last month.

Anyway, how are y'all doing? Weekend is approaching...so, any exciting plans?

I am at a cyber cafe near to my place with a flatmate. We are now indulging our off days, and to accumulate, this is my 4th day off in a row after returning home from other work trip. I feel so sloth now. Ha!

So, I was in Kuching again, and we arrived at the airport just few minutes before the arrival time of the private jet that carried the Deputy PM of Malaysia--Muhyiddin Yassin. He was on an official visit to the city.

Malaysia Airlines B-734 and the Fokker F-27

Later that evening, I did accompany a colleague to this place.

Kedai kek lapis y'all!

My jaw dropped as soon as I entered the premise.

I was like a boi in a candy shop. There were hundreds of types of Kek Lapis here. (Kek Lapis=Layer Cake)

And I took that opportunity to buy some for family back in KL.

They sell each box for RM 10 only (equiv to USD3).

The place is located just opposite to the Hilton Kuching, but you need to take a boat ride across the river la.

Later, we walked to the Sarawak Handicrafts area along the riverside. And I found this!

Never that I know that Sarawak pon ade tanam teh!

My colleague and I ended our trip with a sip at the hotel restaurant!

Yummm....

Watch out for this space for more report after this ;)

U know u love me, xoxo

Borneo Pt. 3

Good day,

The very third part of my report from my first work trip.

So where was I?
Hmmm.......OK I was at the Filipino Market with a colleague. The place looked dead during sunny daylight but gracefully changed to a very happening makan² place from dusk to prolly err....midnight, just like Gurney Drive in Penang!

I was there early in the evening, so there was nothing much just yet. Hawkers were still preparing their stalls and food.

Cakoi (fried long bun) taken with margarine and Kaya.
I asked the fella, 'you tak de sos cili dia ke?'. And my colleague said 'People in KK eat Cakoi with sweet stuffs, not with chilli sauce...'

You know apam?

Blissful evening!

So to say I met with this auntie who sells grilled seafood. I wanted to take her photo, but she refused so I said this is for a travel magazine and she instantly changed her mind and gave me this pose. Pandai ngko ye?

Later, I was off to Kucheng again, and we were greeted with this immigration officer who wore a mask. At that time, H1N1 baru nak mule.

And straight went to the hotel.

And how I like the lobby. Cosy. Tapi bilik....macam haram. Ha! But still aku bersyukur dengan ape yang aku dapat......

....to be continued.
